There are a lot of instances where we sacrifice our well-being for other people to feel better. You can lump people-pleasing into this as well. So if it doesn’t feel good, why the hell do we do it? It’s usually because we’re taught that we ARE responsible for other’s feelings when we were growing up. And because we’re also conditioned to not upset other people, it just encourages us to behave in a way that we think will keep the peace as much as possible.
